Church Covenant

Having been drawn by divine grace to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and having yielded our lives to Him, we who have been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit now, with grateful hearts and solemn rejoicing, renew our covenant with one another, leaning not on our strength, but on His unfailing grace.

John 6:44; Ephesians 2:8; Acts 20:21; Romans 12:1; Luke 9:23; Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38;  Psalm 100:2; Philippians 4:4; Nehemiah 9:38; Hebrews 10:24–25; 2 Corinthians 12:9; Proverbs 3:5; 1 Peter 5:10

We will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (Eph 4:1-3)

We commit to walk together in love, as brothers and sisters in Christ, showing the kind of care and concern that reflects the covenant bond we share in Christ. We will look out for one another with kindness and attentiveness, offering encouragement, correction, and support as needed, always seeking each other’s good in the Lord. (Rom 12:10, 16:17-18; Gal 6:1-2; Matt 18:15-17; Jas 5:19-20; Col 3:16; Heb 3:12-13; 1 Thess 5:11; 1 Cor 5)

We will remain faithful in gathering together for worship and fellowship, and we will not neglect to pray—both for ourselves and for one another. (Heb 10:23-25; Eph 6:18; 1 Thess 5:17, 25)

We will strive to raise those entrusted to our care in the instruction and discipline of the Lord, and by living lives marked by purity and love, we will seek to lead our family and friends to know the salvation found in Christ. (Deut 6:1-12; 11:18-20; Matt 6:6; Eph 6:4; Mk 5:19; Lk 5:19; Matt 5:16; Eph 5:15)

We will rejoice at each others’ happiness and endeavor with tenderness and sympathy to bear each other’s burdens and sorrows. (Rom 12:15; Gal 6:2)

By God’s grace, we will strive to live wisely and uprightly in the world, turning away from ungodliness and the desires of the flesh. Remembering that we have been buried with Christ in baptism and raised to walk in newness of life, we recognize our sacred calling to live in holiness as those set apart for Him. (Eph 5:15; Tit 2:12; Rom 6:4; 1 Thess 4:7; 1 Pet 1:13-25)

United in purpose, we will labor for the ongoing witness of a faithful, gospel-preaching ministry in this church—upholding its worship, guarding its doctrine, practicing its ordinances, and preserving its discipline. With glad and generous hearts, we will give of our resources to sustain the work of the church, to comfort the needy, and to carry the light of Christ to every nation under heaven. (Eph 2:21-22; Heb 10:25; Matt. 28:19-20; 1 Cor 11:24-34; Rom 16:17; 2 Thess 3:6; 1 Cor 5; Acts 2:42; 2 Jn 1:9-11; Matt 10:10; Gal 6:6; Mal 3:8-10; Acts 11:29; 2 Cor 8:1-5, Lk 24:46-48; Acts 1:8)

We will, when we move from this place, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word. (Acts 18:27-28; Rom 16:1-2; 1 Cor 15:58; Col 3:23; Heb 10:24-25)

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen. (2 Cor 13:14)
